I would recommend buying either a Storm Tropical, Ebonite Tornado, or Brunswick Power Groove.

If he’s a midskill (intermediate) bowler, I would definitely recommend the:
    AMF Reactive Angle
    Brunswick Avalanche Solid or Pearl
    Brunswick Sidewinder
    Brunswick Power Groove Reactive Urethane
    Columbia Hi-Flare Reactive Scout
    Hammer Vibe Cherry or Blue
    Hammer “Raws”
    Storm Jolt
    Storm “Tropical Storms”

I am an advanced bowler, but use some of these “intermediate” bowling balls whenever I bowl league or tournaments with very dry lane conditions. Hope this helps!
